I tried the standing desk for 30 days and here is what I have found

We are all working from home currently in the lockdown and here is what I have found and attempted to fix:

1/ my monitor was way too low. The proper ergonomic height is just below the top of the screen. This is so that your armpits are able to face forward. Any lower and you will need to slouch.

2/ standing for long periods of time is hard. I bought a gel pad for underneath and regularly have a stool nearby so I can adjust my standing. After 30 days I was alot more used to standing.

3/ get a keyboard. I was using my laptop keyboard connected to an external monitor before and that was quite comfortable. What you do not realise is that the height of the laptop affects where you please your wrists and arm. It is not in the most ergonomic position.

After adjusting for the above issues, I found

1/ My posture is alot better, shoulders are less internal rotated.

2/ My head is moving back and no longer at risk of developing a hunch back

3/ I need to embrace my core a whole lot more and be consious of doing it at the beginning

There are two certainties in life – death and taxes

Previously i have noted that thinking about death will make you appreciate life more.

Is that true for taxes – will thinking about taxes make you appreciate money more?

Alas, probably not. There are a few ways to reduce your tax and maximise your income. Currently we have the tax (taken by the government) and the more shadowy inflation tax (again by your government).

My ideas for reducing the tax payable is:

• consider your need to sell – that incurs capital gains which is like a 50% haircut on anyprofits that you take. It could be cheaper to borrow the money that you need against the capital
• have different income streams aka business – which allows for you to use different strategies
• negative gear – for assets or the like. This is probably beneficial in todays world where we have very low interest rates

For the shadowy inflation tax

• buy assets (rare) – currently the m2 supply is increase by a high percentage per year. And the velocity of this will increases. In the US the m2 supply increased by 40%. There was 40% more money flowing in the system and this was created out of nothing. no wonder houses are increasing so much!
